Work Progress
Week 1 - Major 2 Briefing / Task Arrangement
During the first week, we had an online class where we were
briefed on our Major 2 project. Since Major 1 was a group
project, we continued working with the same group for Major
2.
The briefing mainly explained the project requirements, which
largely build on and continue the work from our previous Major
1 project.
Fig 1.1 Week 1 Task
Our group leader began assigning tasks to each member. I was
responsible for designing a new flow for our Travel Kaki app,
specifically the
Connect flow (Find Travel Buddy).
Week 2 - My Task Progress
After our leader consulted with Mr. Shamsul and Dr. Wong, they
suggested adding a new flow for finding travel buddies during a
trip. Based on this, we decided to develop a new feature. I then
started researching references to gather ideas before beginning
the design.

After completing my research, I started creating some
low-fidelity designs to explore initial ideas. During this
process, I discovered a travel app called
TripBFF,
which helps solo travelers find travel buddies. I downloaded
and tested the app, and found its UI design quite effective.
As a result, I used some of its design elements as references
for my own design.
Week 3 - Design Progression
This week, I worked on completing the new Connect flow. It is
almost finished, but some details still need refinement after
consultation with our supervisor.

After the consultation, there was minimal feedback from
the supervisor, mainly focusing on small refinements. Most
comments were related to other flows. I continued refining
the details and ensured the design remained consistent
with the other flows.
Week 4 - Prototype Linking
This week, after completing all the designs, I started linking
the pages to create the prototype. During this process, I also
added some animations to enhance realism and improve the overall
user experience.

After completing the linking for this section, I still
needed to finalize the full app prototype linking. However,
due to personal reasons, I was unable to attend the
consultation and complete this part. I would like to thank
my group members and leader for helping to continue the
work.

Week 5 - Social Media Post
We also created social media content to promote our app. For
now, we are focusing on mock-ups of the posts. I was responsible
for designing around 3–6 social media posts that can be used for
stories or feed content.

As shown here, these are the overall social media mock-ups
we created, including social media posts, App Store listing
mock-ups, story mock-ups, and billboard/subway
mock-ups.
Week 6 - User Testing
We also conducted user testing for our app. Each group member was
assigned to interview one user. I chose to interview a friend who
frequently travels and recorded the session.
Each of us conducted the user testing using different
methods, including face-to-face interviews, online interviews, and
interviews with lecturers.

Reflection
Over the past seven weeks, developing the Travel Kaki app has
been a valuable learning experience. At the beginning, our idea
was still quite broad, but through research and discussion, we
refined our focus on helping travelers with trip planning,
discovery, and social connection.
We learned that many travelers, especially solo travelers, face
challenges such as planning trips efficiently and meeting new
people. This led us to develop key features like the AI Trip
Planner, Live Map, and Connect feature to support these needs.
During the design and prototyping stage, we focused on creating
clear user flows and a consistent interface. However, user
testing showed that while users liked the clean design and
useful features, there were still issues such as unclear
buttons, confusing icons, and some navigation difficulties.
User feedback helped us understand the importance of clarity and
usability in design. It showed us that even small details can
affect the overall experience.
Overall, this project improved my understanding of user-centered
design. I learned the importance of testing, iteration, and
designing based on real user needs. If given more time, I would
improve the usability of certain features and make the design
more consistent.
