 LECTURES

The first week marked the beginning of our project class, where Mr. Mike introduced the MLE (Module Learning Experience) and provided an overview of the three client companies and their respective requirements. After forming groups of 5 to 7 members, our group, intrigued by the exciting and creative possibilities of Expedio's challenge, decided to collaborate with them.

Before concluding the class, Mr. Mike collected all our email addresses to facilitate the future distribution of important project documents.

WEEK 1
In Week 1, we were tasked with completing activities prepared by Mr. Mike on the Miro board. Initially, we found the Miro interface overwhelming, as none of us had prior experience using the platform. However, after Mr. Mike’s detailed briefing, we gained clarity and began to understand how to approach the tasks. Below is an overview of our Miro board workspace.

WEEK 2
In Week 2, during our initial class discussion, our group encountered some uncertainty regarding the specific content required for the Miro board. Our group leader, Jun Jie, facilitated a meeting with the team to discuss the project and assign tasks to each member.

My responsibility was to research Expedio's target audience, a task that proved to be quite challenging. To streamline the process, Lina assisted me with the research, allowing us to make more progress collaboratively.

WEEK 3
Mr. Mike arranged a meeting with our client, Expedio, to help us gain clarity on their requirements and gather essential project details. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the meeting due to a class schedule conflict, so I relied on my team members to represent our group. In preparation for the meeting, I contributed by compiling a list of questions derived from our research conducted the previous week.

WEEK 4
At this week, we have booked an appointment with the Expedio team and each group leader are invited to go visited the Expedio company. But im group member so i just continue to work on the tasks that leader told me to complete. After group leader visited the Expedio compony and send back some image for the product prototypes and explain how to assemble and disassemble the boards. They also introduced to leader and leader back and explain to us to make sure all group member are understand.

This week, we focused on refining and finalizing our survey questions. After receiving approval from Mr. Mike, we began distributing the questionnaire across various online platforms to reach a broader audience. The team shared the survey on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other channels to maximize responses.

WEEK 5
Before distributing the survey, we estimated the number of responses we aimed to gather and identified relevant individuals to invite. Fortunately, we successfully received responses and are grateful for their participation. This week, we collected 80 responses from four key target groups: creative teams, educators, entrepreneurs, and others. The following week, I delegated the data analysis tasks to three members, assigning each one category to analyze and summarize the key insights for Expedio. To avoid images overload here, you are allowed to view all the progress on here.

Fig 2.5 Problem Statement & How Might We

This week, after completing the data collection and analysis, our attention turned to uncovering key insights. We summarized our findings and presented them to Mr. Mike. During the discussion, he highlighted the importance of shifting our approach from simply showcasing the X-Board’s features to focusing on convincing potential users, especially those unfamiliar with this type of whiteboard, to give it a try. Taking this feedback into account, we refined our insights and moved forward with defining the problem statement.

WEEK 7

At this week, we start to research for the visual references for the design. I taking the task for design the website for promo the X-board. Before start designing, our group leader required all member research more for the visual references before start to design.

Fig 2.7 Low-Fi Website Prototype

Given my prior design experience, I conducted research early on and began working on a low-fidelity prototype. Although Week 8 coincided with a holiday, we remained focused on progressing with the project. We also prepared a presentation slide to showcase our progress and meet with the Expedio team to discuss our developments.

WEEK 9
This week, we were informed by Mr. Mike that there would be no class. As a result, we continued working independently on our tasks, focusing on refining our work based on the feedback provided by Mr. Mike, making necessary changes and improvements where required.

WEEK 10
In Week 10, we focused on creating the customer journey map. My responsibility was to work on the website aspect, where I outlined the entire flow of the site. This involved identifying the necessary pages to design and determining the essential elements to include in the website to ensure a seamless user experience.

Gantt Chart, Progress Tracking

This week, we focused on refining our new user journey map to better align with our 'How might we?' statement. Mr. Mark consistently emphasized the importance of referencing this statement throughout our process. We had in-depth discussions about the optimal number of content posts, the specific content to create, and the best timing for these posts. I quickly put together a Gantt Chart to visualize everyone's tasks and keep our progress on track.

WEEK 11
In Week 11, while continuing to work on the website design, I received a message from our group leader regarding an issue with our approach. Since we were focusing on promoting the product through social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, a desktop website seemed less suitable for the campaign. After discussing with Jun Jie, our leader, we decided to pivot and concentrate on designing a mobile-sized website instead.

Fig 2.10 Mobile Size Website

This decision was well-received, given the widespread use of mobile devices and our plans to leverage social media for promotion. However, Mr. Mike raised an important question that made me reflect: "Why would a social media user, unfamiliar with our brand, click on our ads?" I spent considerable time pondering this question. Unfortunately, during this period, I fell ill and had to take a week off.

WEEK 12

Fig 2.12 Color Used

Given the tight timeline, our team was focused on speeding up progress, and I was also under pressure to redesign the website for mobile and create the updated prototype. During this time, Jun Jie offered to collaborate on the website design, which significantly accelerated the process. Together, we were able to make quicker progress compared to working individually. After discussing as a team, we finalized our design direction, selecting the color scheme, typefaces (RF Dewi Expanded & Archivo), and overall color palette to ensure consistency and alignment with the brand.

WEEK 13
This week, after collaborating with Jun Jie on the website design for the past week, we were able to complete most of the website, leaving only the prototype as the final task. However, since Jun Jie noticed that some team members were struggling to meet the required deliverables, he decided to assist them with their tasks. As a result, I continued to focus on finalizing the mobile website and developing the prototype to ensure we could meet our project deadlines.

WEEK 16

Fig 2.14 Final Presentation with Expedio Team

Presenting our work to Expedio was both a challenging and rewarding experience. Their focused attention demonstrated their dedication, which gave our team a much-needed boost of confidence. Although I wasn't completely happy with the final outcome, the feedback we received from Expedio was incredibly useful. They identified a mismatch in the wording of our ad video, which didn't quite fit with the overall design. This oversight occurred because I hadn't thoroughly reviewed the content before the presentation.

 REFLECTION

Experience
Throughout this project, I have learned a great deal, particularly about effective communication with clients and how to successfully meet project goals. While the design aspect itself was not challenging for me, the most valuable lesson came from collaborating with my team. Working together, we faced problems and found solutions collectively, which strengthened our teamwork and problem-solving skills. As the semester progressed, I observed significant improvements in both my abilities and my approach to team dynamics, ultimately enhancing my overall performance.

Observations
This project has been an invaluable learning experience, especially in terms of client communication and goal achievement. While the design work came naturally to me, the real growth came from collaborating with my team. We tackled challenges together, finding solutions through open dialogue and cooperation. This not only improved our teamwork but also honed our problem-solving capabilities. As the semester unfolded, I saw noticeable progress in my skills and my ability to work effectively within a team, leading to a more polished and successful outcome.

Findings
This project has been an incredible learning journey, equipping me with essential knowledge and skills. I am especially thankful to Mr. Mike, our instructor, and to Mr. Toru and Ms. Abi from Expedia for their guidance and support throughout this experience. The insights and skills gained will undoubtedly be beneficial for my future endeavors. Through this project, I have not only enhanced my project management abilities but also refined my client communication skills, both of which will be invaluable assets as I advance in my career.
